Double blind tasting Dense ruby/garnet with minimal rim clearing Medium plus aromas of sweet ripe red/ blue berries and plum with dark floral/ dried herbs and black pepper notes Medium bodied with palate of red fruit - no real secondaries noted Medium plus acidity with medium plus rather coarse tannins felt primarily on the tongue - medium plus alcohol The sweetish fruit here took me to southern Rhone - I feel like I can pick up Syrah the majority of the time but this lacked a lot of the savory/ meaty/ olive notes Drinking well now but time may help this wine achieve some well needed complexity

Dark garnet with black core. Sediment Aromatics medium +. Black and blue plum, ripe. Savory dry notes that could be olives. Green peppercorns. No new oak. Palate has medium body. Acid medium +. Tannins medium +, medium grained on the tongue. Alcohol medium. Red and black plum. No secondary Finish has medium + length. Balanced Dry glass notes of coffee, olives and other savory. Didn't hit all the boxes for me as a northern Rhone Syrah. No smoke or meat, but still had a deep dark brooding feel. Drink now or continue to hold.

Deep garnet/purple and an expressive bouquet of spice, anise, licorice, peppercorn. Precise and layered through the mid-palate and a finish that lingers soothingly. Definitely a winner among the 2013s.
