At home. In Grassl Cru glass. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of wet leaves, deep ripe red cherries, red plums, ripe strawberries, blue earth, bramble bush spice, sweet meat. Chinese herbs with more air. Developed. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), supple medium tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of lush ripe strawberries, ripe darker red cherries, red plums, red licorice, baking spices, leafy earth and stones, hint of meatiness. Bits of bitter Chinese herbs. Somehow the alcohol heat and spiciness keep showing up prominently with more air. Long finish. Very good quality. Complex. Doesn't really have a New World feel, but the lushness of the fruits is quite definitely not Burgundy. Mouth-feel more punchy rather than silky. Caramelization of fruit shows with more air. Probably as good as this is gonna get already. I wouldn't age it much more beyond 3-4 years.

NobleRottersSydney - Yarra Pinot & Cabernet (360 Bar & Dining, Sydney): {screwcap, 13.5%} (Gordon) Sweaty, malty, a touch rustic and muddy. It’s still never going to be mistaken for burgundy, and it speaks more of Yarra Yering than it does of pinot really. There’s some meatiness to the flavours too; in some ways it tastes older than 4 years. It’s medium-bodied, with medium powdery tannins, a real evenness along the tongue and a medium/long finish that suggests it needs plenty of time yet.

Balanced wine, abundant fruit, medium tannins, some spice on the finish. Enjoyable but I am on the fence about it at this price point, relative to other comparably priced (and indeed lower priced) Pinot Noir wines.

Screwcap. Strong nose of black cherry, raspberry, blackberry, and five-spice powder. Palate shows lots of fruit: blackberry, raspberry, cassia bark, cherry. Fruit is concentrated but not sweet, and is balanced by stalky tannin and firm, astringent acid. A good-looking wine, though it doesn't seem very earthy or Pinot-ish.
