  French but no Burgundy/Bordeaux theme: Clearly a Riesling with petroleum notes on the nose. Waxy, nutty texture but not too heavy or plodding. Excellent length and balance. One of my favourite Alsatian wines.

  En 2013, les conditions climatiques ont rendu difficile cette possibilité pour les vignes les plus jeunes, aussi nous n’avions gardé que nos vignes les plus vieilles pour produire le Rangen. Les rendements étaient très faibles, encore plus faibles que 2012, et le résultat est un concentré de terroir. Ce vin était le plus rapide à finir sa fermentation, ce qui était surprenant car en général les vignobles récoltés en dernier sont les moins actifs en cave.

  PHMG WAG: Tour de France 2019 (Col' de Lyon): WOW! Because of the diversity of wines tonight, we used the Reidel Tasting / "Gourmet" glasses for the twelve of us. This wine would be fine out of a Mason Jar! This is glorious with a flint/ petrol note introducing the apple, lime, stone and mineral flavors. Acidity has the upper hand over the slight residual sugar. Deep and long, still 96 on day 2, ungassed overnight in the fridge. Now-2033.

  Pese a estar al sur Rangen es un viñedo de madiración tardía debido a su altura (entre 350 y 450 m) y a su proximidad a los Vosgos. Sus suelos volcánicos son una influencia determinante muestra de entrada un toque de pólvora, y matices ahumados que dan paso a notas de ciruela amarilla madura. Complejo y con profundidad más que intenso. En boca el ataque es muy bueno, muy seco, hay incluso sensaciones secantes, tánicas, acidez intensa pero equilibrada, notable peso de fruta, notas minerales, buena estructura y notable longitud.
