  • Easter Dinner with Greg & Donna: Slo-oxed for 20 minutes, and might have benefitted from some additional air time. The color of this Petite Sirah/Tannat/Tempranillo blend was an opaque purple, with some slight sediment. The nose was clean and brimming with dark red and blue fruits. The medium to plus bodied palate showed these same dark red and blue fruits, along with some minerality. The acidity was lively and balancing, and there were still some unresolved tannins on the finish. This wine will hold, and possibly improve, over the next few years.

  • Incredible blend of Petite Syrah, Tannat and Tempranillo from Paso fruit.
Really interesting the fact that so unique blends come out of Daou in Paso, truly wonderful blends, and yet we so in often hear of them!

  • This was a fun one - maybe the best Daou I've ever had. Extra dense purple color, nearly fully opaque. Fast legs and a small dash of sediment. Profound nose of chocolate cookie, Honeycomb cereal, grill spices, blackberries and boysenberries. A full bodied and creamy palate that took a few hours to smooth out the rough edges but then it was spectacular. Aside from the generous portion of fruit flavors, what completes the picture is some deft underlying minerality and adolescent tannins that are just starting to resolve into the mix. Another year or so and this will be hitting prime time. The AFWE crowd can take a pass... this juice is for the fruit-bomb lover out there that still likes a high degree of complexity and grip in their glass. Makes me have second thoughts about quitting club Daou. 5+12+17+8= 92

  • Although these grapes are in the minority, I get a lot of the tempranillo and tannat on the finish. Smooth, not extremely deep, shorter finish. Impressive and different than my typical fare. I would also say that there are better wines at this price point, but this was good and something different.
