  • From Art's cellar. I was going out alone so decided to gamble and take a cru bourgeois which, though from a great year, was probably a little past its time. Cork crumbled and I had it decanted though a screened funnel. Color was orange with a good bit of clear on the edge. Nose was all forest floor and fresh cut mushrooms but was not unpleasant. While the wine had seen better days and was in decline, it was not out of balance, with only a little sharpness at the end which the NY strip rescued. Still, the wine was $4.88 when bought and brought happiness to me and the older couple at the adjacent table.

  • Took a chance on this old cheap St-Estephe from a good vintage. Oxodized past the point of being enjoyable. Sherry-like flavors. Poured down the drain.
