  Earthy on the nose, with hints of pine forest and spice. Full-bodied, rich and velvety in texture. Initially displayed the somewhat off-putting medicinal note sometimes found in Nebbiolo, but this lessened noticeably with time in the glass. Lots of ripe cherry and raspberry fruit character to this. Finishes with good length, slightly chewy tannins and notes of earth and mint. Quite enjoyable, and much better than the stingy 83 point Wine Spectator score would suggest. Paired very well with our lamb chops.

  Rustic in the classic Italian style, but lighter than often found. Dark fruit, smoke, tobacco, tannin. Good value. Great with food. Had this with a meaty Sunday gravy and fresh pasta.
