Another too-alcoholic, too-raisiny California Zinfandel. I was hoping for better. At least it sells for a decent price; I bought it at closeout for $5.99!

Though basically a little too much for my preference, this is a crowd pleasing wine that shows up on the weekly tasting tables at many of our favorite local retailers. The concentration, and the oak, leave a big impression on the roof of the mouth. The fruit is clean, fresh, easily delineated raspberry, cherry, blueberry, blackberry, mulberry and bramble. There is also a flavor of Contra Costa County terroir that is slightly different from any other Zin producing area. Still tasting very young. Medium plus bodied. Decanting and swirling helped integrate the oak. The finish is bold and hedonistic, leaving red licorice and cherry preserves in a nth of vanilla.

Clean, medium intensity on the nose - blackberry, brambley berry, five spice and mushroom.

Showing pleasant nuance on the nose and palate. Lots of heat too. Solid.
