  • Ma Cuisine, Beaune: Impenetrable colour. A beautiful, evolved Corton bouquet. with a perfumed floral top note (violets?). Also, almost liqueur-like, with black berry fruits, old spices and a touch of pepper. With the time, the spice on bouquet intensified. Good on palate, but probably better on bouquet. In the mouth, very primary and powerful with flavours of wet earth and black fruits, blackcurrants and dark cherries. There is a huge volume of fruit here, the wine is large scaled with big, but refined tannins. With time in the glass, the wine softened. It went sensationally with both my magret and my Abbaye de Citeaux cheese. This wine is drinking well now, but ideally give it 3-5 years. Alcohol moderate at 13.4%.

  • In a good spot. Dark ruby, clear, with some bricking. Bouquet of mature cherry, cola, mint, earth, leather, game. Sweet fruit and tannin, pleasant acidity, silky, mature. Later some mocha on the finish. Good length. Not as powerful or dense as some, but very pleasant, layered, mature. Yum.

  • Young but deliciously fun. The bouquet is very pretty, full of earth, pine sap, raspberry, cedar, and hints of pepper. There is plenty of tannin, providing good grip for the fruit and secondary flavors of mushroom, toasty cedar, garrigue, and pine needle. While not as good as some other Grand Cru Cortons, this is showing nicely at 10.5 years old and will improve with age.

  • This was clearly a well structured burgundy with classic earth tones of Corton. Sorry I committed infanticide since this 2001 bottle was just starting to show

  • Tasting two Red burgundy blind with Mike, second place. Soft red color in the glass, big, rich, inky nose of sweet/sour bacon and sweet/sour cherries, more of the same on the palate, lots of guts, medium finish.
