  • Slightly hazy pale brownish yellow color. Generous white head. Quite intense, dry and slightly pungent nose with aromas of green apples, old wood spice, some smoke and a hint of oxidative brown tones. In the mouth the beer is mid-bodied and extremely sour with flavors of green apples, lemon, some smoke and a hint of ripe citrus fruits. The beer comes across very taut and unfriendly, but is also full of character and elegance, further emphasized by very soft and smooth carbonation. Very low on the bretty side. Long but tight, taut and tart finish with green flavors of bitter herbs, lemon, apple peel and a hint of earth. A slight touch of hop bitterness.

Indredibly sour and tightly wound gueuze, but also very elegant and balanced one. Probably not the best one for the beginners, but for the hard core lambic fans this is the classic stuff. The only thing I really missed in this beer were the rustic, bretty tones; probably a thing that can be rectified with extended cellaring. A little pricey for a regular gueuze (6,69€ for a 0,375 bottle) but still worth it and more. A classic.
