Opened this up to make a sauce for 48-hour sous vide short ribs. Surprisingly good. Sure, there’s not much of a finish, and there are some confected aspects and what feels like inexpensive oak. But it has depth, structure and a few shades of mineral and earth. Tastes like it’s got some old vine material. Could be a lot worse for a 7 year old, $7 supermarket wine.

A good solid basic Merlot in every year...13 is no exception. A bit sweet for my liking. Oak is not sophisticated but it contributes to a quite nice finish with the big fruit and good balance

Color: garnet hues and translucent. Nose: slight fruit and pepper. Nose isn't really notable. Flavor: some slight dry red fruit with an oak and pepper element on the front. Chewy/chalky tannins are prevalent throughout along with astringent undertones. The tannins take over at the end and the finish lingers half a minute.

OK wine for $6. A little disappointing considering other reasonably priced Bogle wines I have sampled.
