Pale ruby. Highly aromatic. Tart Cherries, vanilla and toast. More body than you expect visually. Silky mouth feel. 3+ acidity, 3+ tannin. Surprising. Very nice.

Moderately aromatic. Blackberry fruit forward. Medium fruit, medium acid, medium alcohol, soft tannins. This wine is pale even for Pinot Noir. Obviously cool climate maybe less than perfectly ripe fruit. By far the best Michigan red wine available. Easy drinker. Serve with more delicate flavors.

Tasted at the winery on the Old Mission peninsula. The Arcturos Pinot noir had a distinct spicy sauerkraut/caraway nose. It came across on the palate as spicy and savory with relatively little underlying fruit. Unrefined medium wood tannins gave this a rough mouthfeel and masked the fresh acidity that is a hallmark of MI Pinot noir. Unlike the non-Arcturos version, which had good fresh red fruit on the nose and palate, this was over-oaked and needs more bottle time to settle down. No score.

Not the best pinot noir but it is the best Michigan red wine that I've had. I'll be proud to share this with my friends from the west coast.
