Deep ruby with medium intensity. Sous bois on the nose with plums, blueberries, and blackberries…then Cab Franc stealing the show with mineral and chili pepper. Silky mouthfeel and balanced acidity give way to firm tannins and a palate of the same dark fruits, finishing long with eucalyptus laced dried peaches. Will drink for several years or enjoy it now with beef, duck or lamb .

Based on what I know about the right bank (in this case Fronsac), I have to assume this is Merlot, blended with either Cab Franc or Malbec to amp it up. And amped up it is. A fairly robust bottle that would have benefitted from another year or two, but the fruit and tannins came through well, but it just wasn't balanced and complex enough to venture into the 90+ rating range. Was a tad too powerful for beef stronganoff. Really good bottle of wine, especially for the price (Under $30). I'd hold on to this at least to the end of 2021.

PnP. This is drinking so well now. Expressive fruit and oak. This has the expressive California style but it is not syrupy sweet like Californian wine. Drink now! Amazing QPR at $25

Dark cherry, and it gets better every day it's opened. One of the bottles where I disagree with the crowd wisdom - it's very well rounded, fruity, and a longish finish. I'll be looking for more bottles of this.

Went well with ribeye, Brussels sprouts, and baked potato. Better than under-$20 Bordeauxs we've tried. Would drink again.
