  • Food: Chinese
    Duration: 2 hours
    Condition: perfect
    Aroma: white flower, pear, caramel
Note: very full bodied white. Laurent's high new oak treatment gave this wine a very solid backbone and a relatively coffee/caramel aftertatse on the throat. Pretty long and well rounded finish. I'd say that this is a more modern style chardonnay as I did not sense anything Meursault about this bottle. Some argue that Laurent's wine making neglects the terrior and over focus on the oak, personally I think over the years this situation has vastly improved in his reds, while the whites are indeed more modern. Anyways, this doesn't change my judgement, a good bottle will always be a good bottle, just a different way for the maker to present its wine. This wine reminds me of a hardworking carpenter carefully crafting some wooden arts. I like this wine. Although a bit young right now so I will be a little more patient on this wine. Drink 2017+.
