This vintage of The Boxer is one of the last from the well-known winemakers Sparky and Sarah Marquis before their acrimonious split in 2015. In the resulting settlement, Sarah took over the winery ... and I'm not sure Mollydooker’s maintained the same quality of wines in this intervening years. But I digress. I’m definitely a fan of the 2014 vintage - the best Boxer I’ve enjoyed to date. It deservedly received 93 points from Wine Spectator. The Shiraz opens to notes of licorice, various berries and dark chocolate. The flavours offer other accents of spices, cigars and even a hint of mint. While the alcohol content is high at 15.5%, there is still a balance of tannins and fruit that has a long finish. It pairs beautifully with spiced steaks and gourmet burgers. Sadly this was my last bottle with little prospect of finding another one. Oh well … another great wine is always waiting. Cheers.🍷

Really nice. In a great drinking zone. Had as an after dinner wine which seemed good. Not sure about before or during. Massive wine and should have a few good years ahead but not a long term ager at 6 years out. Very dark concentrated and layered. Medium - finish.
