Crimson and tawney brown. Beautiful, expressive layers of roses, violets, tar, slate, stewed strawberries. Full mouthfeel with fleshy fruits and towering tannins. Lingering, complex and with many years ahead.

Luscious, hedonistic an quite delicious. Ripe berry and blood plum fruits. Some leather and spice. Full, fleshy and layered. Heady and velvety with good length.

One of my personal favorite Oddero choices at the moment, providing a combination of the classic Oddero character with the richness of the vintage. The 2011 has aged nicely and surely lost its baby fat, instead it shows sweet tannins, smooth textures and a big fruit with underlying power and muscle. Dried berries, cherry, tobacco, baking spice, molten tar, pressed violets, licorice, coffee and a refreshing hint of elderberry mingle in a typical Villero showing. The mid palate presents a special interplay of silkiness and density. Vivid, classic, playful and simply a joy to drink at age 11.

Oh this is a beautiful wine! So dense and youthful. Its youthfulness - vigour, tannin, tension - is its primary characteristic. There is a lightness of touch, but it's coiled, like a spring, and it's dense and powerful. Black pepper and wet earth. Much more potential than actual. Terrifying. Scary. In time, this will be sensational.

2 plus hours of decanting needed. Licorice, prices, cedar, high acidity, dense tannins. Probably another 10 years of aging potential.
