  • Tryiong this wine a second time after giving it a strong review. I confirmed with winemaker that this Liparita was made for HEB so there isn't a way to valdiate the retail value but he did confirm HEB took a real haricut on the price. This may not be VBlock, Oakville or Yountville but it is a great wine at the HEB price point. I still contend it drinks like a 40-50 dollar bottle. The wine is rich in dark fruits but also leather, spice and hints of chocolate. Great mouthfeel and structure.

  • Picked this up at HEB yesterday and wow! This isn't the V-Block or one of the vineyard specifics. Would like to try those as well. Key here is the value I scored at the local HEB. I typically get my everyday wine at HEB and then some better wines paying market price. I was grabbing an Israeli Psagot Cab and the guy recommended this as a good value. Took him at his word and I am going back to get more. I picked it up at 27 which is a steal for this wine. In the $40s from CA I typically go Hietz, Pine Ridge, Groth or a few other of the entry NApa cabs in the premium brands. This hangs with those easily so at 27 it's a steal.

It's a big wine with tons of fruit and structure. Like the Psagot, it is 14.5 so pretty warm for a finished cab although we see "the norm" norm here moving into 14/14.5 these days. Its big on the fruit and I am feeling good tannins and acidity so I think it has the balls to age. Excuse the language here but this still drinks young an cocky in my opinion. Smooth, yes but still young. I want a 6 pack to track this one.

Deep purple and opaque. Nose is dark fruits, spice and leather. Palette carries through and is developing as it gets more air. Would like to see a bit more complexity develop on the back end but we will see. Partly why I think this is a real winner in another 2-5. Maybe more. Mouthfeel is great. Chewy and grainy on the tongue ... in a good way. Well balanced. Just great blend of the fuit, alcohol, acidity and overall structure. Finish lingers and it all holds together well. Great wine and at 27.... all day long. I am anxious to see the thing develop and build a bit more complexity on the palate and the finish extend a bit. We will see
