Deep, dark and lovely. This gnarly beast of youth has matured into a powerful wine with our flaws. Tannins resolved but support remains. A serious wine to serve with strong or rich fare. Many of my early bottles were, apparently, drunk too soon.

Retail $25. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc. The last bottle I popped of this was well over three years ago and this now is the last of the lot that I bought from a long-defunct internet site (at least I think it is defunct). While I had anticipated that the notes here would change considerably, the last note is surprisingly still spot-on. Perhaps the fruit is a bit more faded, but other than that? Once again great with my Texas-sized ribeye.
It still has a good colour with a nose of blackberry, blackcurrant, floral and liquorice. The palate is super smooth with a gentle, black fruit layer, tannins are very soft, acidity is just right and with a pencil shaving and forest floor notes.

(Chateau Potensac) This had earth, tar, tobacco, tannins and acidity but no fruit. Like a liquid ashtray dropped in the forest that was very nicely made. The problem is I don't want a wine that is nicely made that has no fruit. I need a little fruit. Not overwhelming gobs.

Still holding up beautifully, right out of the bottle, without decanting.
