Lunch at La T (La Trompette, London): Mid gold, good stream of medium bubbles. Nicely rich, buttery and mature in the meaty rather than mature B de B spectrum. Ripe, rounded and quite broad. Good food wine but lacks the class of the Hebrart earlier. Still, that’s being picky. ***

Still feels very primary, took a while to open out. Mousse is fine and disappears quickly though in a zalto universal. Fundamentally, not that balanced. I think time might help a bit to smooth out the initial aggressive acidity, but I suspect it entering its somewhat disappointing peak now. Use a flute/narrow glass.

Recent release. Pale gold. Initial light VA on nose with a touch of liquorice and not much else. Soon warmed and it's true character emerged. Strawberry confiture, leather, liquorice and ripe orange peel. Quite full-bodied, just enough balancing acidity, rounded and forward in character. Mousse is OK but maybe a bit coarse and slightly weak. Reflects its vintage and place well. Probably not for the long haul, but enjoyable and characterful.

Mycket äpplen både på näsan och i munnen. Hygglig champagne men lite obalanserad och lite tunn syra.
