Looking for a great deal on a sweet wine for the holidays, look no further. Already delicious to taste today, the roasted apricot, pineapple, mango, vanilla and honeysuckle packed nose is the perfect introduction to all the honey-slathered tropical fruits and nuts on the palate. All of this sweet treat is perfectly balanced with ample racy acidity making this a pleasure to sniff and sip. Drink now, and over the next 2 decades with ease.

The wine bottle has a beautiful gold label and a wonderful bright straw coloured sweet wine. It has developed superbly since by 2017 tasting. The nose indicates typical Sauternes lusciousness and the palate now does not disappoint. The sweetness is there now, dripping with wild honey, ripe pears, peaches, and a little citrus. The acidity in my latest bottle is superb, almost prominent and provides good length and finish to a very enjoyable drink. A little botrytis is still evident but all components seem to be integrating nicely. It looks like it will even benefit from some more age and then drink superbly for years.

No 1, pale gold. Pronounced dried apricot, mamalade, some greenish hint. Lucious, high acidity, high alcohol, medium+ body. Dried apricot and yeast, nutty and grape seed in the finish.

I hope to increase my score after a few years more but at present the best I can give is 90. I find the wine nicely balanced but not particularly focussed. The nose indicates charm and elegance which is followed on the palate with evidence of a little botrytis, honeyed peaches, lemon curd and some fuji apple. For me it lacks some acidity but there is sufficient to avoid cloying sweetness, but then its not greatly sweet anyway. It lacks some drive but maybe something will come from some more age. Its by no means a bad or weak Sauternes but not particularly impressive either.
