  • Cellartracker in the flesh with Pjhaines (Paul) (Various venues, London): Not obviously Sauvignon Blanc at all. Touch of sweet fruitiness to the mid palate. Rather splendid

  • Pale, almost neutral grassy green color. The fruity nose feels very sweet and almost candied with aromas of fresh pear, peach candies, some pear marmalade and a little bit of gummi bear. Definitely nothing I'd normally associate with Sauvignon. The wine is medium-bodied, fresh and vibrant with very fruity and quite sweet-toned flavors of ripe pear, sweet golden apples, some pear marmalade and a little bit of juicy, exotic fruit. The moderately high acidity keeps the wine balanced and quite fresh. The finish is pretty acid-driven with moderately long, fruity and almost candied flavors of sweet golden apples, some pear drops, a little bit of peach candies and a hint of marmaladey sweetness.

A very atypical and rather weird Sauvignon that feels very fruity and sweet-toned, making the wine come across as rather simple crowdpleaser. Not really my kind of wine - perhaps the wine is (still) dominated by fruity esters and other very primary aromas that make the wine feel so candied? All in all, although not a bad wine in any way, this is not really I wine I'd want to pop open when looking for a Sauvignon Blanc. Feels a bit pricey for the style at 17,50€.l
