  • Smells & taste like a Bordeaux, savoury, rustic, masculine, biggish Pinot, not bad

  • transparent ruby with purple tinge. Initial: Leafy spicy berries, soft pepper, leather, earth and bramble. Bright, sour, stems. Unusually sappy green, yet savoury. Distinctive.
After an hour: lush leafy berries, sweet spice, tone down cherries. Palate is nicely integrated, although acid is still shocking. Lovely umami, spreading the way for pairing with cantonese roast meats. Pleasantly leafy, and rustic in a unpretentious way.
    Great value and yums!

  • Pale ruby colour. Expressive nose displaying scents of strawberries, red cherries, raspberries, liquorice and hints of cedar, forest floor and savoury notes.

It is dry in the mouth with a refreshing acidity. It has a medium+ alcohol and a soft tannic structure. It has a medium- body and medium+ intensity flaovurs. The finish is long.

It is a very good quality wine showing balance between acidity and fruit concentration, a very persistent finish and some complexity provided by oak ageing. However a better example of this style would have more concentration and display more complexity.

  • Light, acidic, nice balance. A very moderate, straight forward but well made pinot (very much in the old world cool style). Nothing to get excited about but for price and if nothing else available it's perfectly acceptable and correct.

  • I think reviewers have been a bit hard on this wine. The price point needs to be taken into account too.
This is not Trimbach's traditional output but an interesting variant.
The colour is a good dark one for PN, showing the expected pinkness too.
Light cherry on the nose & palate along with red berry flavours.
The acidity is elevated and perfectly accompanies duck & potato lyonnaise.
    Nice fresh finish.
