Opened, decanted for an hour, and paired with seared lemon-garlic tuna steak. Cloudy violet color. Floral nose brings intense lavender, red roses, potpourri, spring violets, cherry bitters, and raspberry menthol. The palate is medium-light, tart, juicy, and compact, bringing cranberries, cherry pit, sour rhubarb, Manhattan bitters, black tea, and wood smoke into a tangy and hard finish that brings lingering cedar notes. Will be best 2021-2026. Technical score: 91. Enjoyment score: 90.

Dark ruby-violet with light browning at the edges. Nose polished black cherries, hint of nail polish, some floral notes, hint of vanilla. Palate very bright red cranberries, hint of tomato-leaf herbal complexity, some earth, high acidity. Almost seems a bit underripe, but with time hints of a fleshy fruity depth. The high acidity perhaps needs more time to come into balance but does work well with a simple meal of grilled kebabs and rice.

Just delicious. A somewhat somber nose of macerated ripe fruits together with a touch of framing oak spice. Good density on the palate with nicely plump fruit. The supporting acids provide a more agile presence than the nose would suggest. Long finish with soft tannins. A quintessential Marsannay that competently scratched our burgundy itch.
