I think, mildly corked 🧐 😼.... The wine had a slight but noticeable musty smell that didn't blow off after a 5 hour slow ox, followed by another hour or two in a decanter. A particular shame because besides the musty smell the aroma was probably the best part of the wine - I noted at the time: 'On opening lovely rich Pinot fruit wafts from the bottle. In the glass, a small pour, rich almost liquor like (not liquorish) nose, dark maraschino cherries - smells ripe, but fresh and very 2010, a very good thing - aromatically open and promising but still with a bit of oak that emerges after a swirl. Palate is more acidic and thinner than the nose suggests and accompanied by a slightly musty smell that will hopefully blow off. Long. Glad I opened it with several hours slow-ox in mind.' The wine did fill out a bit and the oak integrated, but the musty smell persisted - I wish I'd had some cling film to hand, as if ever one of the tricks to remove cork taint was going to work then this seemed like a prime candidate - and an otherwise promising bottle of wine. I still drank it, but don't think it would be fair to score. Putting aside the taint, I think if I had more bottles I would leave them for a few years as, while not shut down hard, it did feel a bit tight and like it would have rather been left resting for the time being. Very reasonable price for a Beaux Monts (a little over £50), no other experience with the producer...I don't think this bottle would stop me from picking up another if I saw one.
