Drank blind with the Xmen last nite. Interesting wine that most guessed correctly to be a PN. Very tart/sour fruit at first taste. Not much on the nose either on opening. The wine improved dramatically in the glass, however. And, also, was far better with food than without. This is not mom's elegant feint-of-heart little pinot. Rather, it's a dark maroon, medium bodied, masculine, sexy wine from NSG, and well-representative of its appellation. There are tannins, but they're integrated. There's some gritty courseness here as well, along with forest floor elements, some earthiness, and still-plentiful amounts of mostly black fruit. Over time, the wine dramatically softened, with a lovely, lengthy finish; and the nose became more pronounced. Very enjoyable, complex and interesting wine supplied by J$

NSG North Virtual Tasing (Zoom / Chicago): Lots of potential here though it does provide some hedonistic pleasure with loads of baking spice and jammy fruit. Significant structure underneath the rich fruit. Better and more integrated in 10+ years.

Nuits St. Georges 1er "Northside" Tasting (Chicagoland IL): While not the most entertaining wine of the evening, this was one of the more interesting. A real powerhouse, this kept opening and unfolding. Obvious density and stuffing, this ever-so-slowly softened and got more accessible over time, never fully shedding its tannic exoskeleton, but best when finished 8 hours after it was initially opened.
