Needs 30-45 mins of air really to start showing off what it's got. Give it that and you will be rewarded. Very nice blend and was surprised the Syrah didn't take over the show. Nice bouquet, nice smooth tannins, nice oak. No complaints!

So I bought 3 of these a few years ago when I also picked up some of the 2012 Ursa. I opened my first bottle about a year or so ago and was disappointed. I dug around on the web a little and found recommendations to wait until 2018 so I have been sitting on my last 2 bottles. Its 2018 and I wanted some wine tonight. This has come a LONG way from the wine I tried a couple of years ago. Those critics saying to hold a few years were spot on. This has really blossomed and most of the hard edges have come off. I would give this at least a 60 minute decant but I really think its starting to hit its stride. Great fruit and the blend of cab and syrah makes it a little unusual but Im really enjoying it. Im glad to see that my patience was rewarded on this one.

A somewhat unusual blend of 50% Cab Sauv 40% Syrah, and 10% Petite Verdot. Notes of dark chocolate with fine, chalky tanins. We enjoyed this however have a preference for the other Baer wines in their 2012 lineup (Star, Ursa, and Arctos).

Ready to drink now. Sweet Fruit with smooth rich transition. Good body without a lot of tannins and no stem.
