  • This pours light garnet in the glass. Medium bricking. The nose is immediately aromatic and complex. Aromas of dried orange peel, dried cherry, cigar ash, a touch of raspberry coulis, and a smoky charred rosemary note. The palate is medium plus in acid with medium minus tannin. The finish is only medium but features lovely dried red fruit and touches of citrus. Nice wine that has held up well.

  • I'm starting to think that I have a magic cellar.
While I am pretty much a bottle a week sort of person, I only choose to write about the substantial bottles and this is one.
Always cautious about opening and decanting bottles of age - I had absolutely no issue with this wine.
Pristine cork. In the glass- solid ruby colour with not a hint of brown.
Straight from the bottle- classic flavours - lively acidity, cedar cigar box, graphite, cassis and sour cherry finish. A touch of mushroom ... but lots of lively sour fruit, 20 years on no less !
Complex , saucy sweet/ sour acidity, with a wave of salinity in there somewhere.
I can't ask more from this wine.
    Smokey cassis nose.
This wine is like a journey ... that I would like to crawl in bed with.
Wow, need I say more? Sweet on my tongue! (top back sides actually)
And Im only at quarter of a bottle in at this point. I hope I get lost...
I'm not decanting this one , I intend on licking the sediment from the glass

  • garnet. Nose was more on the garrigue side rather than the raspberry side. Taste was of a medium aged Ch9P. Good.

  • I keep hearing that the '99s are maturing faster than neighboring vintages. I'm not seeing it. This wine showed a deep ruby color, bright cherry and herbs on the nose and similar bright fruit and herbal flavors on the medium weight palate. It essentially tastes the same as it did on release 5 years ago. I really like the brightness in the mouth. This wine has higher acidity than most CNdPs I have had lately, making it quite refreshing to drink. Good wine if not exceptional CNdP.
