  • Oh my! So this is what happens when you wait too long to drink a bottle of wine. I could actually taste the subtle flavor that would lead someone to say 'old wines turn to vinegar' (not vinegar for sure, but the likeness of it, yes) and am glad I finally fully tasted a wine that had this quality because now I understand where this idea came from about wine turning to vinegar (strange thing to say isn't it--hey, have to look at the bright side of letting a bottle go bad under your watch). I WILL drink my older wines faster...I WILL drink my older wines faster....

  • I think my bottle was slightly tainted. The wine was cloudy and a light, cherry red color. It was slightly tart with some blackberries trying to fight their way to my tongue. Some of the initial tartness went away but the cloudiness remained. It was barely drinkable. Definitely disappointed although I think this bottle was sitting around for a year in who-knows-what conditions before I picked it up.

  • appears darker see-thru purple, smell strong tar and bit of blackberry, taste very cool fruit, kind of like jelly, but not like cooked or warm fruit, very pleasant and nuanced blackberry, finish rolls in with nicely toasted and roasted flavors, quite nice, this wine did not work so well with food, though this might be a matter of the correct dish—the coolness and tenderness and occasional tartness would suggest that it might pair with something, I did not notice the alcohol content until after I finished the bottle and saw the label, amazing--I would never guess the alcohol was that high (15.8%)—no kind of heat whatsoever on the palate and incredibly well integrated, quite impressive job with that

  • Opened this two days ago. There was an initial surprise. This was a very balanced Zin. Spice, black pepper, and of course the fruit. However as the wine evolved the flavors came out one at a time first fruit...spice... and then butter, vanilla then both combined to caramel. The moutfeel was full and long. It was more elegant than most Zins (the smooth balance of flavors contributed) . By the day the more dusty rustic aromas and flavors of zinfandel came through. A very nice wine to the end. A great value.
