  popped and poured
  really good cork
  13%
  robe - showing some tawney notes but nothing alarming
  nose - very expressive from the gate, not too exotic with classic bordeaux , just a bit more cooked and heavy. despite the vintage, it still smells like bordeaux
  palate right from the start, this was a surprise. i am not sure what i was expecting, but stewed fruits , port or something along those wines. rather than cherries and cassis, we are more int he cooked plums and prunes territory , some aged oak, and the classic bordeaux tobacco is there.
  if you have some of this, dont be afraid but drink now. don't decant it and pour everyone a nice glass. don't let it sit on the table for hours either.
  enjoy this though. it is alive and well
  reframing to give it a score . we did like it and i even wish that i had more of them to drink over the next 12 months

  I liked this better than the recently tasted 2005, but the different tasting circumstances make comparisons hazardous. The broad character remains the same, namely lean without being austere, but on this occasion the oak seemed better integrated.
