From an owc. It took a good 2 hour plus to open up with flint, matchstick, citrus and minerals. Initially restrained but opened up with layers. A legendary vintage for Roulot that will develop and improve for many more years. 94-95

Last of 3 and the best bottle yet. This opened with plenty of acidity, sulfur and bright fruit. The weight picked up with time. Drank alongside the 96 Leflaive Batard, the weight and complexity became as impressive as the Batard. Not a hint of oak on this. This bottle was grandcru quality.

I'm doing myself no favors with this note but here it goes. Quite simply a perfect wine right now. The Charmes richness is balanced by a stream of acidity and this bottle seems like it could age another 10 years. This ranks amongst some of the best Roulot I've ever had and holding my last bottle for a few more years seems like the right thing to do. It might be a 105 point wine by then.

Superb nose with popcorn, nut fruit, minerals and yellow fruit. The precision and weight are amazing. This is roulot at its best. Still very youthful. A bottle in this condition can easily go for another 10-15 years. 94-95

(Roulot Meursault "Charmes") So my conclusion with '96 white Burgs is this. Either they are completely shot and oxidized or young as young can be with incredible potential. The Roulot falls into category 2. Just an unreal nose of lime rock candy, minerals and chalk. The palate was incredibly deep and rich with acidity the way I like it. High, tense and crunchy. The fruit was pure but still very young and unformed. From the way this tasted last night this wine has at least 25-30 years ahead of it. One of the best '96 white burgs I have had this year and I have actually had alot looking back on it.

From magnum. Intense nose that held up well. Thinner palate with slate and steely notes, and mustiness starting to seep into the finish. 90-91
