Quite discreet nose on honey and caramel.

Palate that catches up with an absent nose with a creamy and fresh texture, on almonds and honey. There is also a tremendous amount of salinity in this magnificent quality juice, it's fresh and buttery, yet rich and supple at the same time. Big, lemony and chalky finish at the same time which opens the way to a length while tension.

It's excellent, too bad the nose didn't take off, probably due to lack of ventilation, but I still think that the best years of this wine are behind it.

  • You really gotta sit on the Charmes, opening them young is such a disserve, I don't say that often for White Burgundy but this is one of them. With age these unfurl to such majestic powerful beasts. The 01 is like a lion walking around the Serengeti among the tall grass - it's somehow rich and powerful but the flavor profile is stony and clean that gives it such grace. UGH so good.

  • WOW what a bottle! This wine was rich, creamy, aging at the perfect pitch…..caramel vanilla creme on green apples, honey, almond butter…..but with the richness there was also tons of complementing crushed stones, savory minerals….chalky flint, whiff of strike….and SO SO fresh with lemon/lime citrus, pretty white flowers. Couldn't ask for a better mouthful of goodness!

  • Domaine Roulot Dinner (Nico Osteria - Chicago, IL): Fucking fireworks. My notes read, "wow wine". Incredibly clean, and stoney with a real sense of density without the weight. Tons of elegance along with a real sense of power. One of the finer white burgundies I've had lately.

  • Beautiful. The color has some gold tones from age. On the palate, this is soft and round and flowing like a mountain stream, nice weight in the mouth but not at all heavy, with light caramel notes from age and good underlying acidity. Grateful Dead night at David's in Irvington.
