  • Dark magenta, plum color
nose: ripe fruit, plum, wet stems, and underlying eucalyptus.
palate: Vibrant acidity, pomegranate, plum, orange rind, red fruits emerge with air. Meal in a glass, delicious!

  • Six Nations 2016: Violets, raspberry, some stem and blackberry. Medium bodied, has good restraint and balance. A little more depth and this would step up a level, but as it stands just very good.

  • This note is from a pre-release tasting very shortly after bottling. The wine should be released in a few weeks (mid-October 2015). This is Wilde Farm's third vintage (please see my notes for the 2012 and 2013 vintages for background). Wilde Farm continues to receive critical accolades and its demand far outstrips supply. The 2014 vintage will continue that momentum...the 2014 Bedrock will lead the way. For me, this is Wilde Farm's best effort to date.

Dense, highly extracted dark purple color with luster, like hand-polished ox-blood cap toes.

The nose has freshly cracked green peppercorns, smoked bacon fat and olive tapenade. Very dense nose.

"Alive!" best describes the mouthfeel. Spiced berries, tree bark, dark cherries roll back and forth from front- to mid- to back-palate and then in reverse while holding a 2-minute finish. Richness, texture, structure and acidity interwoven with incredible balance. A masterpiece!

While tasting the 2014 I had to remind myself that this was a California mixed berry field blend. Blind-folded I would have guessed a Denis Mortet Premier Cru Gevry Chambertin. The wine is excitement in a glass!
