So I was expecting something more, I’ve been a big nebb fan for a decade and a half at this point, and this guy was my brass ring. Got it years ago and paid rent on it for a long time, saving it up to share with my buddy who is a crack Italian foodie and polymath chef, musician, Scientist. Well he and his wife cooked up a mean short rib with luscious potatoes, and roasted broccolini to go with this. It was elegant, it was delicate, as per Damilano it was textbook. Sour red cherries, cedar, violets, anise, big acidity, big tannic structure still after 16 years. Nobody was wowed, I didn’t hear any effusive plaudits. Think I either need to save up for that ketchup red labeled $900 faletto or shift my attention to Gaja, Marchesi, and good olde Pio Ces. Sorry damilano, only a 94 for your tete a cuvee.

Deep Ruby black Pronounced aromas and flavors intensity of dark forest fruits, coffee, dark bitter chocolate, forest floor, oak-vanilla. Developing. Dry, high acidity, high abv, med+ tannins, full body, long aftertaste and finish, high complexity, rich, powerful, dense, a modern powerful Barolo can drink now - but better age further.

Damilano Single Vineyards (Ai Fiori (Langham Hotel on 5th Ave)): Really soft. Red and black fruits. Blueberry, tea leaves, floral. It's too young but it's a very pretty wine. Made from the higher elevation more sun touched areas of the Cannubi vineyard. It was a bit finding its feet during the dinner, but in a good way where it draws you in and each new sip is just a bit different. A wine I'd lay down for another 10-15 years. Very intriguing and quite enjoyable.
