After reading the previous reviews here I decided to give this bottle a bit of extra time to breathe. Upon pouring the wine has a dark purple tone and nice legs; and a wonderful nose of pomegranate , berries and damp earth. Slight aroma of smoke as well. Tasting revealed a complex blend, with a minor heat. Again the taste of berries and jam, with a good finish.

Light-bodied, surprisingly high acidity and lively sweet fruit on the palate. Nothing complex here, and very weak structure, but pleasant enough. About as light a cab as you could get. Nothing awkward or bad though -just a bit simple and easy-going.

Nothing especially noteworthy, and for Steven Kent, this was quite a let-down. Medium-dark out to a pale-pink rim. Soft fruit on the nose with a slight twang of off-putting odor. On the palate is blackberry and pepper. Much more earthy and mineral-tasting than typical. Finish is brief but nice. The first couple days, I was very disappointed with this wine, but on the third day, I paired it with peppered, grilled chicken wings and it came much more alive. My guess is that the oddities in the flavor were masked by the strength of the marinade. I would say this is my least favorite Steven Kent thus far otherwise. I hold his wines to a high expectation though; I still enjoyed it.

Wine Tasting at Steven Kent Winery (Livermore, CA): Fresh cherry on the nose. Palate is of brown butter, then red cherry following. Has medium tannins and high acidity. Too much oak… and it is strange to taste such strong cherry flavors in a Bordeaux blend.
