Significantly ullaged bottle. The corks used by Lindeman's/Buring in the 60s and 70s were poor. They compromised many a great wine. The two vintages that preceded 1967 were excellent with 65 producing some of the best Hunter and Lindeman reds ever. From 67 came relatively lighter more elegant reds such as this one.
Just as great Burgundies develop colour and flavour intensity with age so do Hunter shiraz. Were it not for the effects of the poor cork, this wine would have warranted a score in the mid 90s. Even so, it is still providing exciting flavour and structure.
The shiraz was sourced from the 'Ben Ean' and 'Sunshine' vineyards.
