Smooth and juicy - an extremely pleasant sip from Emilia-Romanga that may leave you second guessing everything you know about Sangiovese! This wine was produced in a way that has emphasized freshness and the uniqueness of the particular clone used; Chianti this is not. Plenty of red fruit - strawberry, currant, raspberry, sour cherry - led the way towards a robust but well balanced savoury side. Fennel and sage joined black pepper and exotic spice before making way for earth/forest notes. Touches of coffee and iron/meat showed through, along with anise and cinnamon. A hickory quality come out in the finish, a sort of smokey, woody combination with a pleasantly lingering taste. Though initially deeper and more complex on day 2, the wine faded somewhat as the evening went along - seems like one to drink fresh. You won't have any problems with that, however - every sip of this bottle left me wanting more!

Light (which is exactly what we were looking for on a little restaurant's pretty good wine list); fresh, well balanced, with a touch of earth. Quite nice.

No formal note. Unoaked. Lovely wine, light and pure, supple and juicy, gentle, vinous rather than very defined, fresh, delicate and quite Burgundian. Representative of the style of Romagna, charming. At a business dinner in Bussum, NL.
