dark dense ruby color. densely concentrated cherry nose with clay and dust. medium plus body and acidity. dark cherry and balsamic with a distinctive bite of red and black pepper. light dusty tannin on the end. opened slightly on the second day and fruit broadened, giving some maraschino qualities. more savory with some bottom that wasn’t there before. ideally hold a couple/few years.

Pnp, lots of sour cherry, candied, violet, touch of heat and VA on the palate, a little nail polish, light body, mild tannins, good lovely finish with sandy fine tannins.

Pop and poured into a decanter. Then enjoyed. Grassl Cru stem. Wine purple color. Nose...ahhhh wonderful wild strawberries, then turning to strawberry shortcake, fresh brioche and strawberry cream. With air, the nose settles a bit into red berries with a woodsy note. Red fruits on the intro - wild strawberries and blackberries. Hint of cedar. Light mushroom as a savory side. Delicious.
ND tech 40-20 cork. 14.5% abv.

Sweet, pretty fruit. Lifted and fresh on the palate. There’s good style here but it’s not particularly complex and a little hollow. A lovely Sangiovese but not sure quite seeing the scores and hype machine for these. Will need to try more

Brief impression - tasted at winemaker dinner at King in NYC.
The '18 Riserva is a very pretty young wine, with what I found to be a redder fruit and floral profile than the surrounding vintages of 2017 & 2019, where dark red to black fruit dominated. The nose was a bit closed off at times (context: single glass in hectic restaurant, and no time to see how the wine evolved with air), but showed sweet pure red cherry, red florals, and lighter sweet spices. On the palate, the wine was medium to light in body, less concentrated than the 2019 or 2017, with pretty red berry, red rose, and savory herbal tones.
