Dinner at Dear Margaret (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. Clearly white Burgundy, but initially this felt a little thin and showed enough of a mineral backbone that I thought it could have been Chablis. A very slight green streak here. Once it was revealed this wasn't from Chablis, it wasn't too hard of a deduction to get to Puligny, and then to Carillon. I admit that I found this a little disappointing (I thought it was regular villages level) but upon revisiting later in the evening, this had fleshed out a bit.

I should really stop drinking these, as they're still wound up pretty tight. Initially there's just a touch of reduction on the nose, but it blows off quickly. A lot of salinity and chalkiness, but after a 2.5 hour decant this blossoms. This lacks the precision and delicacy of Perrieres and Referts, but especially in 14 is great.

Quiet at first but opens beautifully. Good définition and complexity. Clearly 1er in weight. This is really lovely and detailed. Good now but no harm in giving a few more years.

Decanted for a 90 minutes and this was open for business. Nice fruit and minerality, good acidity and balance. Middle weight, nice texture and finish.
