This wine was just not doing it for me last night. I probably waited around 5 years too long to drink it. It wasn't bad just starting to get tired. The nose was all fruit. The palate was dark plums, wood and leather which dominated the finish. Served alongside an oven roasted salmon.

While I prefer a more traditional Brunello, it was still enjoyable with a dinner of roasted vegetables on the patio on a beautiful evening. Very dark, not really showing age visually. Any new wood has integrated. Not very complex.

Deep-ish garnet to mahogany edges. Intense savoury notes of Sous-Bois and truffle alongside black and red fruits. As the wine opens, there is a wildness with freshly ploughed earth and some smoke (almost umami). A lively acid on entry, there is a firmness to what is a rich textured wine - like biting into a black forest gateau cake! The mid-palate shows a savoury core amidst ripples of chocolate and raspberry (marinated) topped with double cream. A potpourri note lifts the back palate and show worn leather, tobacco and cherry coulis finish with dense, firm tannins. Whilst dry, there is a sweetness that persists to the finish that is a little distracting. But overall, a good wine without the complexity of a single vineyard.

Very nice with wild mushroom/roasted red pepper pizza on whole wheat crust. Deep ruby, blackberry, black cherry, tobacco, and cedar. Ready to drink but will hold.

Perfect Brunello. Leather, floral, dark red fruit and firm tannins.
