  • Colour: medium gold
Nose: chamomile tea, nashi pear, lemon, lemon peel. Less preserved ginger than I remember. Lemongrass. Stewed mandarins. Slightly honeyed.
Palate: nashi pear, lemon, lemon peel. Slightly underripe nectarine. Lithe, fresh lemony acidity. Chamomile tea. Mouthfeel slightly oily/glycerolic. Phenolic bitterness more prominent than I remember, but still not unpleasant. Better after it’s warmed up a bit. I suspect this didn’t do terribly well (as this was purchased as a bin end special at Dan Murphys) as it’s unusual for Australia, more old world in style? But I like it. 12,5% alcohol.
Edit: after being open overnight, the phenolic bitterness has been smoothed out, and it seems to have rounded out somewhat. Very nice.

  • Colour: pale gold
Nose: nashi pear, apricot, lemon. Maybe preserved ginger. Honeyed. Sweet white flowers.
Palate: lots of lemon, lemon peel. Pear. Apricot. Touch of honey. Rich, textural. Slightly oily, unctuous mouthfeel. Hint of bitterness, but not unpleasant. Chamomile tea. Fresh lemony acidity, some crunchy phenolics. Some lees character. Long on the palate. I really like this. Lovely; rich but fresh, textural, crunchy. Medium bodied. 12,5% alcohol.

  • MVR - Marsanne, Viognier, Roussanne Blend.
A glistening pale gold in the glass.
Aromas were pronounced, honeysuckle, citrusy/stonefruit, apricot.
One thing you do notice is how much the profile changes as the wine “warms up” just that little bit.
    (Which I preferred)
Front palate, peach, still good acids, strong citrus, grapefruity, moving thru to touch of; apricot, almond, musky. A light oil in the texture, and a slight bitterness in the finish which detracted.
Overall, not one to recommend, however, hmm, the wine did work a bit better when paired up to the Barramundi!

    Cheers.
