3 of 3…part of a small vertical 91/96/99. All were opened three hours before serving.
The 1991 was remarkably youthful bottle, mid straw color, mature yet freshly fruited nose of yellow fruits, some salinity and mineral notes woven in. Balanced with a lovely texture and finish. Althought initially this didn’t have much of a mid palate, it showed up for the party after an hour in the glass.
The 1996 nose was also clean but rounder and richer than the 1991. The palate also showed more weight and density as well. The 96 offered more power than the 91 but I found the 91s elegance more compelling this evening.
The 1999 showed older than the 1991 and 1996. A fine bottle, this evening it had a hard time competing with the surprising elegance of the 1991 and the peak power of the 1996

Classic Raveneau with seashell, crushed stone, citrus, peach and yellow fruit. On the palate, it was youthful and complex with tension. The wine evolved from being a rich and round Chablis into precise and high acid youngster in the glass. It will continue to age wonderfully.

BBQ and Top Shelf Vino (Chez Moll): Remarkably fresh for a 28 year old. This still has flavors that are all white fruit and mineral with very little mature flavors of earth, mushroom, honey, etc. My nit with the wine is that it lacks concentration. Very light and watery in body. All said, a charming Raveveau with lots of age. A rare treat.

Jon's 50th Birthday Dinner: Opened for two hours. Enjoyable but not entirely memorable after the previous two flights.
