Label says 'Gamey Noir.' Bought at Henry's, NZ. $24.00 Not decanted. It's a Beaujolais copy, but I didn't chill it. 13% alc. Te Mata's website advises they brought in root stock purchased from France in 1995.
Lovely wine, on a hot day I'd chill it a little. Fresh, juicy, superbly quaffable yet not mere simple lolly-water, there are real flavours here!
Colour....darker than I expected.
Nose....fresh fruit, very simple. A bit quiet.
Taste....Wow, a different story to it's quiet nose: lovely wine, good solid flavours but over all impression is of super-drinkability. Fresh acid. Gentle tannins. Bubble gum in the middle. No earthy impression or minerals, just lovely fruit and balance. Reminded me of some very good Cru Village Beaujolais I've had - it's that good.
VFM? Defo buy again. Worth every cent of $NZ 24.00
