  • PnP. Beautiful nose with a charming combination of fruit, forest soil notes and stony minerality. On the palate the characteristic Chambolle sweet cherry, raspberries and with some minerality, sweet pepper finish. Lovely wine and I would say well positioned in the drinking window for my palate. This wine tasted in 2018, 2020 and now 2024 (from the same lot, same box bought at the Domaine upon release and brought home to own cellar). Looking at my previous notes, then no doubt that this one is the best experience, clearly better positioned in drinking window than the other two. 92+ P

  • Exceptional. This is the village level part of la combe d’orveaux, but Étienne certainly makes it a premier cru, and a good one.
One of my favourite wines. And certainly so at the price point.

  • Perfume bouquet of wild strawberries and red cherries, spring water, stems and wild herbs. Slightly spicy palate, displaying elegant red cherry fruits, orange marmalade, fine texture, with a strong mineralic core of earth, forest floor, spring water and pebbles. Great length and long delicious finish. Excellent.

  • This is a cool stony uphill site and 2014 is a cool year...but Etienne Grivot is usually one of the latest to harvest in Vosne...So the profile here is cool, but ripe. There are plenty of very enjoyable flavors of red and dark berries with a hint of licorice, the tannins are soft, and overall there is a silky mouthfeel. But the wine is tad shy, there is somewhat a restrained flavor profile due to the coolness of the vintage. There is quite a good amount of sap in the mid palate, just lacking a bit in flavor complexity. This is above a village wine level for sure but slightly under a 1er cru, so very good quality for its level. This can be enjoyed now, but it should be cellared as it may develop more aromas and potentially more complexity in 5 years+.
The site natural slow ripening and the cold year were smartly offset by the right picking date, and the smart choices in the cellar created a nice balance in the glass between tension and ripeness, a firm hand in a silk glove. Bravo Mathilde.

  • Popped and poured and enjoyed a few glasses over several hours. Beautifully perfumed with juicy red fruits. Just lovely.
