Just at the beginning of it's journey into becoming like Pinot. Clear, pure cherry and mulberry fruit; beautifully balanced. Far from a great wine - but such a pleasure to drink right now.

I had composed a nearly Rimmerman-like flowery and fantastical tasting note for this wine but the browser lost it before I posted. So now, I'm resigned to just mention that this wine is key to life. It's so beautiful and fresh, simple in that it doesn't carry 15 layers of berries and spice, but just pops right up and says, "Pleased to meet you. Hope you guessed my name". Why do I not have a ton of this stuff in my cellar? Splendid simplicity. Minerals and earth, covered with the fruit of Caravaggio. 91 pts all day and night.

E&R's 3rd Annual Beaujolais Weekend; 11/17/2012-11/18/2012 (E&R Wine Shop, Portland OR): Very rich and deep aromas; creamy. Delicious and decedent, like dessert. The palate is also creamy and lush, with nice exuberance to the bright fruit as well, with a strong grittiness. Crazy grippy and gritty on the finish. Really intense and lush, deep but great balance. Really the complete package of balance, with a nice future ahead of it. 90+

The nose can be deceiving: ripe red cherry, hint of raisin, rose petal, etc, as it seems to suggest a rich, full bodied wine with some complexity. Instead it is a bit insipid on the palate. Medium minus finish. Medium tannin. Is it possible the wine is in a closed phase? If you have a bottle, give it a few more years to see if it comes around. For those who want a big, tannic Moulin-à-Vent that has the stuffing to "pinoter", look elsewhere.
