  • Bitter and hot. Not much fruit left. Drinkable, but not enjoyable.

  • May have been bottle variation, but I do not agree with some of the others on this one. The wine tasted hot and slightly angular to me. Provenance comes into questions as this was purchased on winebid. The Cork broke into two pieces upon removal. The wine did improve with an hour of air, but then went back to being hot with a slight acetone note after 3-4 hours. Was better with food but not particularly pleasant by itself. Cherry, coffee, dried tomato leaf, and a vegetal note were dominant. Perfectly OK, but does not live up to the hype of the vintage for me.

  • Yum. Wish I had more of this wonderful vintage.

  • This may be at the end of its drinking life but yo couldn't tell that from the bottle we had. Spicy, full fruit, full-bodied. Paired very nicely with mixed sausage meatballs and polpettone (grilled meatloaf). Nice deep ruby color with great legs. All the virtues of this famous vintage.

  • served for christmas celebration at selkirk manor. shared with pat, ellen and louis. accompanied main course consisting of prime beef tenderloin, roasted potato, mushroom and vegetables. this wine has come together and is fully integrated. it has lasted much longer than anyone expected. in a perfect place right now. sharp edges are gone. all fruit but with enough structure to hold things together. improved considerably in the glass over thirty minutes. glad we got to this before it started to decline.
