  • somewhat darker fruited with more tannic structure. well balanced though with lots of length. lots of black pepper as well. seems like some influence of stems is my guess. good stuff. not sure it gets much better from here - would recommend drinking.

  • Pop and pour into a decanted - not at all fair. In the glass, clear pale red at the rim, shading gradually to clear, dark ruby red at the core. On the nose, cherries, nutmeg, and an appealing funky fermented note. On the palate, more cherries, baking spice, and a savory note somewhere between beef blood and roasted mushrooms, with a backbone of tannic structure persisting throughout. Another 2-3 years in the cellar?

  • Prior bottle was to-the-day exactly one year ago and this wine was simply stunning. Black cherry, plum, earth and spice notes on the nose, with just a few red cherry hints behind. Medium bodied with mixture of black and red cherry upfront, adding plum and darker black cherry through the middle. Excellent depth through the mid-body and the fruit is well defined, but in a silky, elegant fashion. Tart black cherry, fine grained tannins, acidity and minerals notes on the back and through the finish. Ceras tends to be a bit more structured when young, but when they come together with time, the results (as exemplified by this bottle) are spectacular. The combination of fruit and structure along with the depth and definition make for a very special wine. Close to or at peak, but in a fashion that it should be able to hold this level for another couple of years.

  • Decanted.
Absolutely ethereal on the nose with bright, vivid and energetic notes of cherry, fresh pomegranate, wild raspberry, and cranberry sauce with scents of white pepper, rhubarb, expressed orange peel, rose petals, tea and salty minerals.
Expressive and racy on the palate with high toned acidity and structured well integrated tannins. Abv perception is moderate. Flavors are bright with wild cherry, pomegranate and cranberry that seamless interweave notes of white pepper, rhubarb, tea and slightly dried rose petal, blood orange, saline, earth and minerals. This wine is intense through the finish which goes on and on.
    Gorgeous
