  • Really dark. Youngish on the rim. Would guessed Max 10 years! Blackcurrant and pencil on the nose. Little hollow on the palate, good start but lack something In the middle. Medium long.

  • Like most 2003s tasted this year, this one started badly, with pinched aromas and pinched, burnt flavours. It needed a couple of hours in a decanter to come out of its shell. The nose was then much more expressive, with brambly fruit aromas mixed with spices and herbs, leading into a rich attack of red cherry and redcurrant, then a very deep middle section leaning more towards blackberry, and a long, satisfying finish. Difficult to choose between this and the 2000.

  • My cellar is cold, which perhaps explains this wine's longevity but it's still going strong on the evidence of this bottle.
I've long wanted to try this with Gloria 2003, which I did last night, blind. The latter was much better than the last bottle I tried, but still no match for the Du Glana, which has a fresher taste and more elegance. The fruit is ripe, but no longer tastes overripe, with sweet berry fruits and a hint of cherry. The finish is long and satisfying. I wish all 03s tasted like this, especially for a mere 9€.

  • Past glory... A sad remnant of a once great wine. The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like light toast, oak and honey. It tastes like vanilla, oak and strawberry. The body is medium. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

  • I found this bottle after some cellar cleaning; and because of some of the prior reviews, I had no great expectations. I was just "drinking through some old bottles." But, wow! Was I surprised. This is a really good, fully mature Bordeaux. It's nose is pretty with layers of black and blue berries. It tastes of blackberries, cherries, tobacco, and nicely integrated oak. This wine is balanced and round with loads of ripe fruit, alcohol, adequate acidity, and soft tannins. It is medium to full bodied with a nice finish. Drink now, it's probably in its peak drinking window.
