Heater week; 3/8/2024-3/17/2024 (Chicago, IL): Colour me impressed. There is this very compelling juxtaposition of the light red fruit of the vintage and the concentration of the old vines. The fruit hits on the front end, with a slightly crispy disposition, and then you get more weight on the back end. Great acidity, great depth, and a hit of earthiness to remind you where this is from. For my palate, I'd categorize this leaning towards the post-modern style with its bright and crunchy red fruit.

POB Special Cuvee Lunch (Moon Bay): Age is showing with some tertiary notes but still lots of fruits, drinking beautifully with lovely elegant persistent long finish
Pierre Duroche is one of the most sought after Gevrey domaine. These VV vines were planted in 1923. Making them almost 100 years old! On the nose is classic Gevrey aromas. These wines are intense, powerful, concentrated, structured and complex. Violets, earth, red fruit and little spice. In the vertical I rated the vinages from top to lower. The lowest vintage I rated does not in any means say they are bad. All of these were amazing and I wish I had much more of them. 1. 2016 2. 2015 3. 2019 4. 2017 5. 2018 6. 2014

This was "proper", coming after the '08 Fevre Clos. Violets, roses, cherries and tinge of sandalwood spice. Light-footed (spring'ly and lively on the palate) but not short of fruit-weight and sappiness, this had good balance and length. A very refined wine, which should be better with more age.
