  The wine looks light brown colored. The legs are fast. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like forest floor, mushroom, cedar and fur. It tastes like cranberry, forest floor, mushroom, cedar, fur and wet dog. The body is light. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

  Pyramid Valley (Best Cellars, Crown Street): Slight unripe red cherry fruit with floral top notes, also a touch of coffee. More of the same on the palate; coffee more to the fore. Perhaps a touch of ash as well. The fruit drops quite quickly leaving a little hollowness on the mid palate. Finishes a bit warm as well. Meh.

  Pyramid Valley new releases: Cherry, savoury earth, raspberry and plum. Plenty of red fruit on the palate, with more of that savoury element as well as a nice little tart element. Good acidity, clean but also spicy and having interest. Good stuff.
