Feral and fuzzy on the nose, with obvious Brett or -like scents. Once in the mouth, however, it transforms into a kaleidoscope of flowers from violet to magnolia to orange blossom. Beautiful in the mouth, even if meaty and bandaged on the nose.

Fantastic aromatics. Classic notes of olive, blood and smoke. Wasn't quite full follow through on the palate as this bottle seemed a bit low energy but great on the aromatics alone.

Just perfect. Beguiling nose of blood, iron, smoke, and intense red-black fruit. Palate changes over 2.5 hrs open, from a bit tight and tense at first to something with great verve and classic Cote Rotie notes, then it gets a bit more floral, then turning a bit tighter again before finally blossoming completely. The finish is throughout tight. Suggest to me that good bottles of this have another 10 years of prime drinking at least. There are no other wines like Gentaz. Compared to the '88 of a week ago this is a richer wine (as you would expect from vintage) and less green, but not a better wine just different.

La Paulée - Friday Night Dinner (A Fiori): Late night bottle shared generously by other party goers. Wow, so much intense olive, smoked meat, and mature black fruit. Enchanting. 95+

a beautiful wine with such poise and finesse - what, for me, Cote-Rotie is all about - good for many years yet!
