  • Red Burgundies (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): 70% destemmed bunches, aged for 18 mos in 50% new FR oak barrels from the Allier forest; Unfiltered/Unfined

    N: Clsd; Some earth, toast, berries?

    P: LM body; NICE, almost swtish frt met by a very, VERY finely tannic pucker with hints of swtness which is ULT what shows up @ the VERY end of the LONG, slightly spicy, still (at least somewhat) very, VERY slightly tannic finish. NEEDS until early '20, then potentially superb for drinking into '25, poss longer. 90-93 pts Burghound. [Tough to compare this vendor's $71.95 as they're the ONLY U.S. source showing on wine-searcher in April 2018.]

  • Winebar [3 Whites & 4 Reds] from 03/10/17 (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): 70% destemmed bunches, aged for 18 mos in 50% new FR oak barrels from the Allier forest; Unfiltered/Unfined

    N: Closed; Cherries (blk?) with spice, pyrazines WAY underneath? With addt'l air/swirling, a cranberry edge to the frt? Intensity lurking?

    P: Med, poss MF, body; Lovely, almost swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which quite irons itself out as it fairly seamlessly morphs in a long, only slightly firm finish. Still coming together, & the frt currently masking its underlying structure? (I'm NOT sensing the structure of previous, "lesser", '14 appellations that I've tasted.) // After ≈150 mins in a small tasting glass, I'd now describe it as having a LONG finish with almost a sense of swtness to its dusty tannins. I'm NOW thinking this NEEDS into '21, poss even longer? 90-93 pts Burghound. [As of mid Apr '20, wine-searcher shows no sources for this vintage].

    Addendum:: Also tasted on 12/16/17
